Manali is a town in the Kullu district in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh, near Kullu. It is near the northern end of the Kullu Valley, which is formed by the Beas River. The town lies in the Kullu district, some 270 kilometres (170 miles) north of Shimla, the state capital, and 544 kilometres (338 miles) northeast of New Delhi, the national capital. Manali, with a population of 8,096 people according to the 2011 Indian census, is the starting point for an old trade route through Lahaul (H.P.) and Ladakh, through the Karakoram Pass, and onto Yarkand and Hotan in China’s Tarim Basin. Manali is a renowned tourist destination in India, serving as the entry point to the Lahaul and Spiti valleys.

Rohtang Pass
Description

Kothi hamlet in Manali is around 20 km from the town's centre and is located in the foothills of Rohtang Pass.
It is a charming, little community with breathtaking views of glaciers, snow-capped mountains, and the Beas River, which gets considerably smaller the closer it gets to the village.
